Working from home

Wow, it's been a while.  But I figured why not, what else am I going to do during quarantine?

Like some people, I'm working from home.  But with the state of the country right now, my industry isn't very busy.  As in THERE'S NOTHING TO FUCKING DO.  But I have a job and some projects to work on, so I'm not going to complain.

And like every other parent, I'm also having to do school work with my fourth grader.  Do you know how long it's been since I was in fourth grade?  Me neither, it's been a while and I can't math right now.  I can't remember half the shit they're working on right now.  Or if I can remember how to do it, I can't teach it, cause I don't remember how it was taught to me.

The dog is over the fucking moon about having her people home all day.  We went on a trip last weekend to drop some stuff at my son's aunt's house (which sounds better than saying my ex's sister).  We followed the six foot rule once we got there, and we stayed outside.  I was happy just to get out of the house.  We were gone like 6 hours, dog acted like we'd been gone for three weeks.

But I suck at these, which is likely why I haven't kept up with it.  To make up for it, I thought this video was funny - enjoy.

I don't know what to do...

Boog is staying with one of my best friends this week - for the whole week.  Being the single parent, I usually don't have time to my self.  So I'm going to be completely lost this week.  I could make big plans of all the things I'm going to get done, but I'm pretty sure I'll be napping and reading more than anything else.

I took off work Friday so we could drive down to North Carolina.  I love going there, it always feels like I'm home.  Boog has other kids to play with, a cul de sac that they can play in and not have to worry about cars speeding through and a nice big fenced in back yard.  There are dogs for him to snuggle with and now they have chickens and rabbits.  There are even baby bunnies there right now with a possible litter coming while he is there.

Saturday was tattoo day for the moms!  I'm super happy with my new tattoo, by the way.  It turned out awesome.  And I left Sunday morning.  On my drive home I got a message that Boog said he missed me, but it's okay because he knows he can call me whenever he wants.

Really Octonauts?

Things that make me say hmmm from the Octonauts...there are a few of them.  Have you seen the show?  No?  Well it's not a bad show.  It teaches compassion, learning about sea creatures and it's generally a fun show.

Some things from the show that I don't understand:

1. How is it that an octopus, polar bear, cat, dog, rabbit, penquin are all the same size?
2. Do any of the others have family, other than Professor Inkwell, Kwazi and Peso?  So far we've met Peso's mother and brother, Kwazi's grandfather and Professor Inkwell's cousin.  No one else's family is mentioned.
3. How did all these critters meet and someone not try to eat one of the others?
4. Who's funding this little operation of theirs?
5. How are Tweek's new gadgets and parts delivered?  I've never seen the FedEx guy show up in their Octopod.

And while we're on the topic of things that make you go hmmm from the world of kids cartoons, let's go with Bubble Guppies, aka little mermaid children:

1. Where are their parents?
2. How does an airplane fly in WATER?
3. They don't have enough creatures under the sea that they had to create a Bubble Puppy for the kids to have as a pet?
4. Do the kids have homes, or is it like boarding school?

What about Max and Ruby, bunnies?

1. Where are THEIR parents?
2. Who the hell left Ruby in charge?  She's kind of a snotty brat.  Just saying.
3. Why does gramma come visit and then LEAVE them home alone again?

That's all I've got right now, but feel free to add some of your own...

Christmas Party

My part-time job had a children's Christmas party last weekend at a bowling alley.  All children up to age 12 were invited.  They had pizza, sodas, cake, goody bags, mini nerf footballs and all the kids got a gift.  It was pretty cool.

Boog was happy to be there and kept asking if it was his turn to bowl, so we got him some bowling shoes and gave it a go lol.  Luckily they had ramps for the kids to push the balls down, and had the gutter guards up.

Then Santa showed up...and this is a child who won't talk to strangers, takes forever to warm up to new people and even people he hasn't seen in a while...Guess who RAN to Santa for a giant hug and even talked to him later about his "boo boo" - yeah, this kid lol...

And his gift was a tabletop electronic Spiderman pinball game!  Mommy just has to get batteries for the darn thing...but the good news is that he can still play with it without the batteries - it's just not as cool lol.

Boog fell asleep in the car and got carried into the house where he woke up briefly to ask me to snuggle and promptly fell back asleep for a couple hours.

Day 6 - A whole mess of stuff

Last night I made these for dinner...It's what I had planned for tonight, but hey, Boog saw hot dogs and wanted them last night...I did almost the whole pack of dogs, but held two back, just in case he didn't like them with the cresent rolls on them.

And let me just say that he ate both of them...and said they were yummy...he didn't eat the last bite of the second one, but i think i'm okay with that lol...

It's amazing the things that can be turned into toys!  He thought the empty bottle was awesome...

I got in the shower this morning and there was NO dog in my bed...I come back and there's a big oaf...

Big oaf has claimed the child...
And then woke him up by licking his back...WTF...

Obviously he was not happy about being woken up in such a manner...hell, let's be honest...he wasn't happy about being woken up at all...but he still loves his Big Oaf...

Tiger Stripes

So I wanted to write something in reference to a blog I just read - http://www.scarymommy.com/a-mothers-body/. I <3 a="" and="" can="" damn="" done="" emailed="" have="" haven="" href="http://www.rantsfrommommyland.com/" i="" m="" me="" now="" posts="" read="" site="" so="" still="" t="" that="" the="" them...and="" this="" to="" why="" with="" wondering="">http://www.rantsfrommommyland.com/
ladies...but I digress...

In Scary Mommy's post, she says that while she wouldn't trade the imperfections for the experiences she has gained, she doesn't care for the imperfections...

I disagree - each change in my body was because of something that was never supposed to happen for me. Each stretch mark, worsened medical condition, extra pound and all the pills I take now are a constant reminder of Boog...more so than that, the medical issues and pills are constant reminders that doctors can be wrong and sometimes you just have to do what you feel is right...

I think I may have a bit of inspiration for my next tattoo...hmmm...
and apparently this is the blog that started it - http://www.howtobeadad.com/2012/8410/you-are-mama-we-hear-you-roar.
